Our vision…
To enable people to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ as inspired through Micah’s call: “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6 vs.8
What we do…
Support local churches in their understanding and response to the Gospel of Jesus Christ: sharing Gods justice and mercy with the poor worldwide.
We are going to do this through…
- Increasing understanding of God’s justice, mercy and the needs of the poor.
- Resourcing the local church with simple means of responding with action to the needs of the poor.
- Partnering UK Christians with projects that proclaim and demonstrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the poor.
- Enabling new and existing projects to share in our vision for the poor, become charitable and grow.
Our current work
Our work started as a child sponsorship program but has always had the same vision. It has now developed into fulfilling the aims stated above in a more comprehensive way. Currently we run two projects, one in partnership with a church in India and one in Gambia, and maintain a website with links and resources. Our aim is to support local churches and individuals in their understanding and response to the Gospel of Jesus Christ – and what this means for the poor.
What’s important to us?
Gospel is our focus
At the heart of what we do as a charity is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that “…God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him”. John 3 vs. 16. Our understanding of the Gospel is explained in our Basis of Belief, available on our website. Our vision, mission statement and aims are all one way of describing and living life in the light of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Integral mission
Rather than fundraising for the physical improvement of people in need, Micah’s Call seeks to enable and work with people who believe that the transformation of the whole person – body, soul and spirit is needed. We believe that spiritual transformation and physical transformation are closely linked, and that true physical transformation will come about as people discover their identity as people made in God’s image, and the forgiveness and freedom that come from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Working with local churches
As a para-church organization, we believe that our only role is to serve the local church – congregations where people practice their faith together.
Partnership with projects
As an umbrella charity, Micah’s Call International seeks to work in small projects, enabling people with vision, skills and time, to run their own vision as a project of Micah’s Call. In this way, we are an enabling charity, giving them the option of becoming charitable now, and in the future if so desired, independently.
Close supporter relationships
Working in small projects, our activities should always connect people in the UK with people or churches they support, in a direct way. Our supporters will know and see where their finances are used across the world.
Every pound you give is given to the project it is given for
We send every pound to its designated location – and show the giver how it is used. Our administrative costs are either specifically raised from supporters – or come from gift aid reclaimed on taxable donations.
Practicing prayer, reading the word and being Spirit led
As a Christian charity our one aim is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and allow His will to be done in our lives and in the lives of those who we reach through the charity. To do this we pray regularly, live our lives according to God’s word, and allow the spirit to change God’s Word into action in our lives.
