How long will sponsorship last for?
Over time, if a church grows, the pastor may have some income from church members to allow him to continue his work. Sometimes however even with a church of 50 people, because members of the congregation have little to no income, the monthly gifts received are unlikely to be enough to support the church pastor. JMHA keeps the need for sponsorship under regular review. If it is felt that there is adequate and sustainable support has been achieved from within the church congregation, we would recommend the sponsor continue supporting another pastor.
What exactly will my sponsorship money provide for?
The money provided will be used to provide for renting a small house for the pastor and his family, transport costs associated with the pastor's ministry, the cost of the basic needs of the pastor and his family such as food and government school fees if applicable and ministry costs. The level of support from 3 sponsors provides for a very basic lifestyle.
How can a whole church support a pastor?
A church or group of individuals can support a pastor financially through Love India. A group may also want to take more of an active role in supporting the pastor through raising funds for a church building or evangelistic programs. Can I sponsor a pastor less than £18 per month or make one of gifts?
The minimum you can sponsor a pastor in the sum of £10 per month. This is because there is an administrative burden on JMHA if there are too many sponsors per pastor.
If you would like to sponsor a pastor with a smaller amount than £10 or would like to make a one off gift, we suggest that you donate to JMHA generally and specify that the money goes towards the work of pastors – there are many un sponsored pastors who require support. The need is very great!
Shouldn't the pastors just pray for provision?
Yes, and they do. Regular prayer meetings to ask for provision and favour are held for all their pastors and church planters. The fact still remains however – you may be part of the answer to that prayer – so give if you feel motivated by the Lord to give.
What is JMHA?
JMHA's first Western based child sponsorship program began over 20 years ago. It has successfully seen generations of children through the homes and works with a number of international supporters to carry out medical and Christian social work to needy people in rural India. How are pastors made accountable for the money they receive?
"JMHA already has a visiting pastor to supervise all mission fields every month. He reports to JMHA what goes on, the performance of pastor, the church growth, and the difficulties they face. As well as this, JMHA has a monthly meeting for all the pastors and missionaries. Every pastor shares how their ministry is going and submits a written report.
Can I make a special gift to my pastor and his ministry?
Yes, you can make designated or general financial gifts for items such as bicycles, a church building, a congregation, gospel tracts or outreach events. All gifts must be financial and are processed through Love India who pass on 100% of the gift to the church in India.
